Born from my deep affection for dogs and my appreciation of artisan quality, Miramar Collars was established in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, as a tribute to our beloved Mira, our Weimaraner pack matriarch. After she passed unexpectedly, I felt a calling to transform my grief into vibrant, handcrafted art that honours and embodies her beautiful spirit. Why We Use Paracord
Paracord is a military-grade material originally used in parachutes, chosen for its incredible strength and soft, flexible feel. This weather, mold and mildew resistant cord ensures your dog's collar is both exceptionally durable and comfortable for all-day wear and outdoor play.
Paracord Collar Care
Adventure awaits, and yes—your pup can dive right in! Our paracord collars are water-friendly and built for swimmers. To keep yours in top shape, please follow these simple steps:• Rinse the collar with fresh water after any dip in salt or mud.• Always allow the cord to air dry completely.• Periodically check your hardware to ensure it functions smoothly.• Hand wash with mild soap if things get extra messy.
Getting the Perfect Fit
1. Use a Soft Measuring Tape: Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. If you don’t have one, use a string and then measure the string against a ruler.
2. Check the Fit Point: Measure at the spot where your dog’s collar naturally sits—usually the middle of the neck, not right behind the ears.
3. Take the Measurement: Note the number where the tape meets. This is your dog’s neck circumference. Don’t add extra room—I’ll build in what’s needed for the paracord weave and hardware.
4. Add Ease for Paracord: Because paracord is thicker than a flat collar, I add the right amount of ease so the finished collar is snug but comfortable.
Sizing FAQ
How snug should my dog’s collar be?
Your collar should be snug but not tight. You should be able to slide two fingers comfortably between the collar and your dog’s neck all the way around.
What if my dog is between sizes?
If your dog’s neck falls between sizes, choose the larger size. Paracord has some thickness, and a slightly looser fit is safer and more comfortable than too tight.
Do you size by neck circumference or total collar length?
My sizes are based on your dog’s neck circumference, not the full end‑to‑end length of the collar. When you give me that measurement, I build in room for the weave and hardware.
Can you make half sizes or custom lengths?
Yes. If you need a half size or special fit, add your exact neck measurement and any notes at checkout or send me a message—I’ll make your collar to that size.
